Honoring God’s Creation in Your Dietary Choices

Hey there, friends! As I promised, let’s dig into the realm of animal products before we shift gears to our next stress-reducing strategy on the physical front.

No worries, I’m not here to coax you into the vegan lifestyle. Now, when it comes to meat and what the Bible says about it, there’s not a ton of detailed info. My mind immediately jumps to Genesis 9.

After the flood, God gave Noah the green light to include meat in his diet. It gets me thinking, did Adam and Eve and their descendants allow their flocks to produce just the milk for cheese and such? I mean, why the special permission for Noah if meat wasn’t on the menu from the start? If you’ve got insights or have delved into this, I’d love to hear! I haven’t done a deep dive yet, just pondering. But the bottom line is, while Paradise might have been all about plants for food initially, the Bible says it’s okay to savor both meat and dairy now.

As with plants, how our food grows matters, including in meat and dairy! Just like organic veggies pack a punch of nutrients, the way animals are raised makes a huge difference. When hunting for eggs for instance, look for those pastured eggs. It means the chickens got to roam the pasture, not just the cage-free scene. Cage-free is not the same as pastured. Make those choices count for your well-fed self!

Let me share a slice of my Swiss experience with you! Growing up in a quaint village, I’d often make my way to the local dairy with a pail for that fresh, raw milk coming from the cows whose bells I could hear clanging in the distant fields near my house. I used to love milk and cheese. I never even knew that it was a privilege to have access to raw dairy and cheese! It was just normal. And might I insert, no one ever got sick… Now, fast forward to the States, and the milk here just didn’t taste the same, not even close. Until I learned that most cows here don’t feast on grass! So, I made the switch to grass-fed dairy, and boom – a taste of home, sweet home! Trust me, there’s something magical about that grass-fed goodness! The flavor is worth it, if you aren’t dairy intolerant, that is!

When it comes to choosing your meats, think “grass-fed,” “pastured,” or “wild-caught” – those are the buzzwords to look for! Why? Brace yourself for a science snippet: the Omega profile, for one. Factory-farmed meats contains a highly inflammatory Omega profile, while their pastured counterparts flaunt a healthier, low-inflammatory version.

Additionally, factory-farmed animals might be on a cocktail of who-knows-what, from antibiotics to hormones. Going organic is like a shield against this uncertainty – no funky business allowed! Have you ever wondered about the hormones in animal products and their link to early puberty? It’s a hot topic with some speculations, so dive into your own research if you’re curious.

There is also a famous study that threw a spotlight on animal protein triggering tumor growth, and reducing animal proteins alone reversed it! But in my opinion there’s a gap in the study. They didn’t do a nuanced study showdown between factory-farmed and pastured protein. My hunch is that pasture-raised proteins wouldn’t have the same tumor growth numbers as the conventional counterparts. I am waiting for such a study to be done! I would love to see the results!

Delving into the world of pastured animals, it’s intriguing to think that aligning with God’s intent might be as simple as choosing meat from animals raised the right way. Scriptures highlight God’s appreciation for those who care for their animals, adding a divine nod to mindful farming practices.

Now, let’s talk motivation. Brace yourself – most supermarket meat has tested positive for both cancer cells and parasites. If that’s not a reason to opt for higher quality, I don’t know what is!

To make it budget-friendly, consider enjoying it in moderation. I figure if we were raising our own animals, would we realistically have enough pastureland and time to sustain the common meat-heavy diet? It’s a sustainability puzzle that might make you rethink your meat consumption habits. So here’s a little nudge to ponder and pray about – how often should meat grace your plate? It’s something worthwhile thinking about.

In wrapping up our food journey for now, let’s remind ourselves that what we eat is indeed a blessing from God. Approaching our meals with gratitude, balance, and the intention to glorify Him is a beautiful way to honor the gift of nourishment.

Trusting that God’s provision is the best for us, consider tuning into your body’s hunger and fullness cues. Embrace the abundance of plant-based goodness, opting for organic when feasible. And, for a mindful shift, contemplate moderating your meat consumption or choosing pasture-raised options.

Keep in mind that organic foods pack a nutritional punch, offering essential nutrients and aiding our bodies in detoxing from accumulated toxins. Explore alternatives, embrace cooking from scratch again, and savor the journey of discovering what truly fuels your well-being.

As you navigate these choices, remember that this is a personal journey. Feel free to share your experiences and insights in the comments – your story might be the encouragement someone else needs. Together, let’s continue supporting and uplifting one another on our paths to holistic wellness. Blessings on your health journey!
